How do I get pictures from my desktop to go on my iPod?

I've tried putting them into a folder on my desktop then going to iTunes and selecting "Sync photos from [folder']". But when I disconnect my iPod, they aren't on it.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, I've solved it myself, delete thread.

Sorry :P

For others with the same problem:
in iPhoto. Create a folder called what ever you like e.g "iPod photo's"
Then in iTunes select your iPod ~ Select Photos ~ then Auto sync ad select the folder (or the whole iphoto libary)
