Deleting files doesnt reclaim space

I have a 2gb nano formated for mac. I use it alot to copy images on to use or print off at uni, but when I delete them I dont get back the space that they used, it just stays up as used space.

Is there anyway to get back the space without having to reform the nano all the time?

Cheers

After deleting the files, empty the trash on your computer.
(It puts the files to trash of the iPod so until you empty the trash they will be wasting space).
