'Search' function on iPod? NEED HELP!

Okay, I've got two 30GB iPod videos (one white, one black).
The black iPod's about a year older than the white.
The white iPod has a search function, whereas the black iPod does not...
They are both synced to my Mac, which currently runs 10.3.9.
I've got iTunes 7.4.2.
As well as iPod software (1.2.1).

I don't understand why my black iPod doesn't have a search function?! Ultimately, it doesn't matter, but I'm really curious as to why this is. If you need any other information I'd be happy to give it to you.

Qion will become famous soon enough
The white iPod is 5.5G, whereas the black iPod is 5G. 5.5G was an update from the 5G iPods that included the search feature and a couple other things.

Ooooh thanks for the response! May I ask what other features the 5.5G has over the 5G?
