iPod not Synching w/ iCal and Contacts

I saw a thread similar to this one, but it was over a year old and my problem's a little different.

I've got a 3rd generation iPod nano and iTunes 8. Each time I try to sync my contacts and calendars, it "works." And by "works," I mean that it says that it's syncing calendars and contacts, it even shows a progress bar, and says "iPod sync is complete." Done. Except it didn't do anything, none of my contacts are synced, neither is my calendar.

It USED to work, in fact it seems to work every time I reformat my iPod, until I sync it again later, at which point it deletes all calendars and contacts.

Everything else works, songs, videos, podcasts, they all sync fine. And there's plenty of room (2GB) left.

Any help would be appreciated.
