apple cd/dvd driver?

I occasionally bomb on start up with the error message: system error occurred apple cd/dvd driver illegal instruction. I never had this happen before. reasons why? how to fix?

have you been updating your system and the cd/dvd drivers? Both have been independently updated relatively recently.

Hi. I updated "authoring support" (not sure if it includes the drivers update) I will check apple.com.

the authoring support should do it but there is also a dvd player update on the recent updates page. you might try it as well but i doubt it is a critical thing.

any chance you are running toast?
