I'm working with a Macintosh IIcx running a fresh install of System 7.5.3.
I would like to set this up as a localtalk bridge or something similar, but I am running into a serious problem.
When the computer boots up, apple talk is *always* off. Even if I turned it on before I shut it off. I have tried turning on file sharing, selecting other ports for apple talk to run on, and having it connect to servers when it boots up (which it will do, then promptly disconnect me when it finishes booting) but apple talk always ends up off when it finishes booting.
I can turn apple talk on when it finishes starting up manually, but I need it while it is booting up, so that extensions and control panels which require it (LaserWriter Bridge comes to mind) will load properly.
had the control strip and "Monitors and Sounds" control panels enabled. The control strip was turning off apple talk. And "Monitors and Sounds" is for Power PC's only.
BTW, this is a GREAT way to get your laser printers on the network. Let me know if you're interested, I have lots of 68k macs I'll sell dirt cheap
