Configure Mac Os 9.1 Dsl With a Router

i have an imac running OS 9.1. i have dsl service with sbc using a speedstream 5100 modem. i'm using a linksys wrt54g v5 router. i've created a wireless connection to a pc laptop. the imac is directly connected to the router. however the imac can't read the signal from the router. can anyone help me? all the relevant lights on the modem and router are green.

is the router set up to asign ip addresses as a dhcp server, and is the mac set up to get an ip address from the router? open the tcp/ip control panel, set it to use the ethernet port, and configure the port to obtain ip from dncp server automaticlly.
