Unable to type in OS X

I am running Classic with OS 9.2.1 and OS x 3.9 on an iBook G3

I can type ok in OS 9 but OS X does not allow me to type anywhere.

I tried to reinstall OS 3.9 but I need my password (of course).

Can anyone out there help before I have do a clean install of OS 9 And OS X

Thanks in advance

I have solved this myself.

I ran disk first aid and I got the message that "BDS" Files were invalid.

Also when OSX came up it brought up a keyboard palette box which I couldn't make sense of.

Anyway I have reinstalled OS X and it all works
