Appleworks 6.0f2

I bought my iMac in '99, and it came with Appleworks 5.0. About a year later, I found a 6.0 upgrade on the web (I think from the Apple site). The "about" page says version 6.02f (96). I've been using it with system 9.1 to make invoices and installation drawings.

Last year I upraded to system 9.2.2, and now Appleworks runs really slowly. Almost constant disk accesses. Basically, I quit all apps, restart, open Appleworks, go away for five minutes, then come back and try to use Appleworks.

I downloaded Appleworks 6.0.4, but it won't install. Error message says something like, "Installer could not find Appleworks 6." Same thing with trying to install 6.2.9. Maybe the 'f" in 6.02f means it's a French version?

Until I "run out" and buy the latest version, is there a simple way to start up, using system 9.1, when I need to use Appleworks? Then switch back to 9.2.2 to do other things?

It probably _does_ mean it's a french version. So you might simply need a different update?

I can't find ANY 6.0 updates. I read on another help forum that Apple pulled them, and had other sites pull them as well.

Bob: I found a 6.04 update yesterday, but it won't install. Error message says it can't find a version 6 on my disk. I'm guessing that my 6.0f2 is a French version, but the installer is looking for an English version.

The second link wouldn't load for me. I had to force quit.

I found the installer log from 4/9/00, when I installed 6.0f2. I'll read it to see if there's a French reference.

From the installer log:
Install - US/Canada
Type of Install: Easy Install

No mention of the exact version here:

Installed AppleWorks 6:Starting Points:Web:Templates

So, I'm looking for a plain 6.0, that subsequent updates can recognize and replace.
