Is it possible to transform an OS 9 driver to work in OS X?

Hi there,

I'm not sure it is the right forum for asking but I searched macosx and the web without finding answer...

I have an old graphic tablet with an OS 9 driver but without driver for OS X. I've found a driver for Linux (something Debian, X11, XFree86, I don't know what...).

Is there a way to "translate" the OS 9 driver to a working OS X driver? Or may be to use the Linux driver to "build" an OS X driver?

I don't know programing and I don't want to use Classic.

Thanks.

If it's a Wacom tablet with a serial interface you may be in luck.

Look at http://thinkyhead.com/tabletmagic/

It is a Jam Studio graphic tablet from KB Gear. The company is out since 2001 but manual and drivers (OS 8-9 and Win 95-XP) can be easily found.

OS X recognize the tablet but movement is erratic, there is no way to click or select anything, and mouse or trackpad are disabled. I have also tried Tablet Magic but it doesn't work nor recognize the tablet (though the tablet is USB/serial). Movement become dangerously erratic and I almost lost control of cursor !

I've tried the tablet with an old Mac with OS 9 and the tablet and driver work. Movement and click are OK. One Control Panel and two extensions are installed.

May be I can try to download and test every OS X driver from every tablet manufacturer (Wacom, Genius, etc.) but I have no hope in that...

So, what solutions remain? Use the OS 9 or Linux driver to build an OS X Pref Pane? Modify the Tablet Magic software? Hack something somewhere?
