OS9 not working properly iBook G3.

I have a G3 iBook, with a classic system folder that i can boot into. it doesn't behave properly though. the screen stays like this:

even though the monitors control panel says it's at 1024x768, there's no sound, and it doesn't sleep, as you can see here:

this actually helped diagnose it. when i open the lid again, it says my computer can't sleep, because the software wasn't installed properly. i need to reinstall OS9, it would seem.

only problem is that i don't have the specific install disk for this mac, it's got a boxed retail version of Tiger on there, and the Classic system folder copied from my G5, which works fine for classic.

how can i reinstall Classic with the tools that i have without spending any money (it's a case of a curiosity, not a necessity)?

?
Do you have the classic cd's for the g5. Maybe you can use those to install classic for this system. Most likely the version installed on the g5 is specific fot that system, offering no complete support for this system.

Otherwise find a generic version of classic os9 and try to install that.

BTW: It is not clear to me what is going wrong. Can you look at the drive contents etc. or do the screen pop up autmaticly when lauching into classic.

Good luck, Kees
