| OS9 not working properly iBook G3.
I have a G3 iBook, with a classic system folder that i can boot into. it doesn't behave properly though. the screen stays like this: http://img453.imageshack.us/img453/9411/image007ng1.jpg even though the monitors control panel says it's at 1024x768, there's no sound, and it doesn't sleep, as you can see here: http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/3503/image009fh4.jpg this actually helped diagnose it. when i open the lid again, it says my computer can't sleep, because the software wasn't installed properly. i need to reinstall OS9, it would seem. only problem is that i don't have the specific install disk for this mac, it's got a boxed retail version of Tiger on there, and the Classic system folder copied from my G5, which works fine for classic. how can i reinstall Classic with the tools that i have without spending any money (it's a case of a curiosity, not a necessity)?

Otherwise find a generic version of classic os9 and try to install that. BTW: It is not clear to me what is going wrong. Can you look at the drive contents etc. or do the screen pop up autmaticly when lauching into classic. Good luck, Kees |
