Pro Mouse dead on iMac DVD 400 Slot

Hello,
I tried to get a pro mouse to work on my niece's iMac running os 9.2.2. I even updated the firmware. Search the web and the Apple knowlege base came up with little help. The mouse lights up and using the usb port on the cpu or keyboard doesn't help.
Any thoughts
John

Welcome to the forum !

Is this a new mouse or a used one?

Did you check the mouse control panel to make sure it is set correctly? Did you go to the Preference folder (in System Folder) and trash the mouse pref file, restart the computer then empty the trash?

The mouse does not need any pad or magazine under it. Make sure the area you are working on is clean.
