    Call of Duty 2

i bought this and installed it and its actually worse graphics than call of duty 1, im running it on iMac G5 with 500mb ram, thinking of upgarding to 1gb ram if it will improve the framerate etc, anyone having the same problem? ps - some maps run fine on multiplayer - only the maps that were in the first one, e.g. carentan...

Have you checked on the site for CoD2 for patches? It's possible that there have been some patches released for CoD2 that will fix the problems you're having. You also might want to tweak the video settings of the game. It's possible that you're using software rendering for the video which taxes the CPU.

I know its a different version, but I have it on the xbox360 and it looks amazing, the smoke really makes it.

the patch isnt out yet, im hoping that will fix the problem, ive tried lowering the settings too, the box says its recommended 1gid ram when i have 512, think that might be the problem, but it wouldnt explain why some maps work better than others, hoping the patch solves this

That definitely explains it...some maps are much more intensive than other ones are. Be it for memory, video card power, or processor power.

In all honesty 512MB should be the absolute minimum (bare-bones) amount of ram for a system running Tiger. 1GB is a better number for a common minimum, but the more you have over 1GB the better. Upgrading my PB from 512MB to 2GB made a night and day difference for me in all areas of use...from running the OS to graphics work and games. I'd wager COD2 is causing a lot of pageouts while you're running it—not to mention you are running very close to the minimum total specs for the game in other areas as well.
