ET help

hey, im not sure how many of you play wolfenstein ET, but so i recently downloaded version 2.60c from splash damage, and so the game installed fine, but whenever i open the game nothing happens. i get this really annoying sound as if im pressing a button on my keyboard a zillion times, so i was wondering if any of you guys knew what the problem is?
