DosBox and Command and Conquer optimal speed setting on Mac?

I'm a newbie to this. But I have DOSBos 0.73 and a full version of the original Command and Conquer. Problem is, it's super laggy.

I somehow increased the Cpu Cycles to say "max", (from the default 3000 I think it was), but that ddidn't seem to do anything. I read somewhere to increase the frame skip too by ctrl+f7 or f8. Doesn't work though. I tried using fn+ctrl+f7 or f8 and that didn't work either.
Making the screen smaller vs full screen doesn't do anything either.

Any suggestions on how to get this game to run smoothly? Specific settings on the Mac Dosbox? And how to change the settings within Dosbox?

Otherwise, total great flashback to 1995.

Thanks!

Oh, also I tried increasing the game speed and mouse scroll speed to full within the game. No avail.
