Sims 2 problem with aging

Hi. My Sim moved in a townie and I aged her to an adult for him but when she aged she didn't start at the beginning of adulthood. Instead, she has 8 days left until she becomes an elder. This would be fine except I wanted them to have a baby and she can't being that close to being an elder. I tried the Elixir of Life (made sure her aspiration level was above gold) but it doesn't add days to her life. Any other ideas?
