PSD files corrupting on xserve

I have recently installed a 250gb drive in our
xserve for storing all our 3D images on.

I am now having a problem with layered PSD files,
after just being copied to the drive they were corrupted.
A colored band appears on a certain layer, usually a third of the image.

Can anyone make any suggestions to what might be causing this?
Could it be a hardware or software problem?

Thanks

Steve

Well, did you copy the files to and from the server with the Finder? Or did you open and save the files directly from the mounted volume?

If you are saving files to the mounted volume or opening the files off the mounted volume... then this is an issue with Photoshop that goes back years (at least to 1999, and I can recall clients having these issues back that far using AppleShare IP servers).

If you are going to work on something in Photoshop... bring it over from the server first... work on it and save it to your system... and then move it back to the server.

I strongly suggest doing this with any documents you have stored on your server, but Photoshop is the most notorious for having issues with working off of mounted network volumes.
