Network Home Directory

I have a problem with users home folders. First off, clients and server is running 10.5. I have a golden triangle setup. Basically I have a school with students who use both macs and PC's. I have AD setting the users home folder (as well as profiles for Roaming profiles on the PC's). I am using OD to setup dock and login policies as well as a few other things. What I want to happen is have the users network home folder become their home folder so that when they save to documents, it will save to the network share. Directory Utility is setup so that AD does not create a mobile account and force local home is unchecked.
This is what happens...

If I have AD configured for home folders and OD setup with no settings configured in login\items as well as no mobility configured. The users home folder is on the startup volume and I have a ? mark for the network share. (Acts like OD is overwriting AD home directory settings.)

If I change OD so that in login\items it maps the network home, it will map the network home correctly as a share, but the home folder still resides on startup disk (local)
(Gets AD home directory correct, but does not apply it as the user home, only as a share which sucks because if a user goes file/save then there is now way to save directly to it.)

If I remove OD configuration from Directory Utility, the mapping works correctly, but now I lose the ability to set policys.

So the question is, is there anyway that I can setup a golden triangle setup to use the AD home directory option as the mac's home directory?

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!
