In Excel, when saving a modified document I am getting the following error: "Save not completed, File rename failed, Retry?" The document is not being renamed. This happens with any excel document. ie new document, save, save -> error. Using word to do the same sort of thing to the same directory is fine. What gives? This is now an upto date patched version of excel on an upto date version of X. :-)

You are not alone... Dear All, I too get the exact same thing and it pisses me right off. I can only assume that this is an Microsoft feature, ie a bug, in Excel X. What I do is choose 'Save As' and over write the original. It's the only way. Have to wait for Office X.1 update which is rumour to be coming out soon. Typical Microsoft

Problem is not eXcel I had the same problem here. I found that removing an antivirus software (can't remember if it was Norton or Virex) solved the problem.
