Apple DVD player & time jumps

In DVDplayer allow a user to "jump" to a specific time in the DVD, like HH:MM:SS.

DVDs are being released that have only one chapter for the whole movie, for instance, "Mulholland Drive".

If the software player crashes two hours into the movie, the user must fast forward through two hours of the film just to resume viewing! This can take fifteen minutes, even at the highest speed fast-forward!

It would also be nice to be able to see the time index as the DVD is playing. This would allow people to make accurate references to published DVDs.

    Hypotheical Example:
01:23:13 into the standard "Star Wars" DVD, Luke looks at an object on a table. does anyone know what that thing is?

    Yeah. That would be nice.

But my advice (until Apple decides to add the is to the DVD player) is to set it to fast forward at 8x and come on over to macosx.com.

    woops

It seems that you can do time-jumps with Apple DVD player.

Its under the DVDplayer menu that has no name, only a script icon.

"Show wide info" shows the user the current time and "go to time" allows you to type in a time and jump right to it.

Thats right. The scriptability of DVD player is pretty sweet. In the menu with the little picture of the scrolled paper, you'll find a jump to time script, and a lot of other features you probably never noticed.
