delete recent places

Hi, does anyone know if there's a way of deleting the history of folders you've saved to. Say for example you're in Explorer now and you go to save this page, you get the panel where you enter the name, save as ___________. at the bottom you see "RECENT PLACES" this lists folders you've been to. How do you delete this?

I do not think you can.

This is part of the save dialog in all OSX apps. It tracks the most recent places you've gone to save something so that you can sav an item to a folder you went to awhile back without having to search through all of your folders to find the destination. It seems like a rather useful tool to me.

How come you want to ditch it?

This requirement is cause I sometimes present to clients and they sit over my shoulder. I don't want them to see what other clients I have etc. Know what I mean?

This info will be kept in one of the files in the library somewhere. I assume if you locked this file with chmod, then it would no longer be able to change and the recent items would display the same each time. However, I don't know which file it is or what else would be locked-up by doing this, and I don't particularly feel like hunting through my ~/Library/Preferences file right now. If there are other implications to locking the file, the solution may become more complex.

You can do as symphonix claims.

Or you can learn a different way of segregating you files so that it is not obvious to your 'clients' who your other 'clients' may be. ie.. don't use obvious names for directories?

Or just stay away from the transexual porn rinse mentioned.

This is really no different than any other save dialog in any other OS. The favorites part does not have to be visible when saving items. The "Where:" section is not expanded by default, so it won't matter what's in your favorites. You can set the save as dialog to the directory you want for that app prior to the demonstration and the save directory will be the default until you change the directory. I can go on and on, but there seems to be many ways to camoflauge what is seen when the save as dialog pops up. So really, there is no need to worry about casual over the shoulder observation of what is on your harddrive by your 'clients'.
