you have to update in a specific order, I think it is security-installer-system...
I Own a BW iBook 300, and I have installed several diffrent instalations of 10.1 but none of these solve the problem.
The problem is that because I want atleast 10.1.5 I need to update software update software.
But when I try to update it, my hardisk gets grayed out so I can't choose the hardisk I wan't to install the software on.
I even downloaded the files from apple but with the same result.
I searched the support pages and found an article on the subject, but nothing about the iBooks. And the problem would be solved if you made a partition smaller than 8 GB - my iBook is only 3 GB.
Maybe I should whait until 10.2?
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

you need the installer update, the security update, networking, etc.
search on the apple support page for "mac os 10.1.5 combo update" and download all of the "related files"
