OSX CD-R burning error

OSX CD-R burning error

When I insert a blank CD-R into my external burner (Sony), I get an error message when I try to format it -- I get a message that says:

"The operation could not be completed.
An unexpected error occurred (error code -536870208)."

And then it spits my CD-R out.

Any idea on what could be wrong?
