Mounting Cocktailpe.dmg

When I try to open Cocktail after downloading it, this is what message I receive:
Disk failed to mount
No child processes
???

It seems when I try to open other programs I receive this also. what is it and how to get passed it????

Try this;

Delete the file called /System/Library/Extension.kextcache
Delete the folder called /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernalcaches/
Restart the computer.

These are then automatically rebuilt, using the latest kernel components, when you restart the Mac. The first restart you perform after deleting those files takes a little longer than normal due to the rebuilding of the relevant files.
