    Audio Cds Won't Play

I'm relatively thick with computers, but not thick in general. When I got an ipod I upgraded my OS9 software to OS X. At first everything worked fine, but it has suddenly started rejecting my audio CDs. When I insert a CD is gives me this message:

You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read.

This is really frustrating, as I can't put any more music on my ipod. My Itunes is unchanged, and seems to be working fine.

Please help me before I throw my (beloved) Mac out of the window.

have you tried to repair permissions with Disk Utility, loging in as a different user, cleaning the laser?
