Loss of broadband connection in 10.2.1

Having problem with broadband connection in 10.2.1. I have to restart my system every 12 hours or so to regain my internet connection. There is nothing wrong with the modem or my broadband service. Any ideas?

system:
G4 DP 533
1.5 gig. of ram
OSX 10.2.1(6D52)

The date that .mac replaced itools seems to be related to my problem. The error message "mail.mac.com has lost connection to port 143" appears when I lose connection.

Do you have a dynamic IP assigned to you by your ISP? Some ISPs require that you disconnect every 12 hours or so... just to make sure you're not using your connection 24 hours a day. Do you leave your connection on all the time? Perhaps it's not your computer but rather a limitation imposed by your ISP.
