Know of an app to boost a streaming audio signal ???

I have subscribed to lynda.com (great resource for learning software, btw), I find that some of their recordings are a little low in volume. On my desktop this isn't an issue, but on my laptop, i'm struggling to hear the person's voice out of my laptop speakers. I *could* use headphones, I know.... but, I'd rather not.. does anyone know of an app, that --- like iTunes equalizer -- would allow me to boost the Quicktime audio signal that is playing through my Safari browser ? (or, I guess, allow me to boost the system volume a bit)

the signal i'm trying to boost is not near clipping, so i don't think boosting it will distort.
