Clean Install Keyboard Problem

Hi, I have a fairly new apple computer, and operating system 10.1 on it. I did a clean install today, and it says it was successful.

The problem is that now the top row of keys on the numerical keyboard won't work "sound, eject etc" they always worked perfectly before now. In fact I did the clean install a number of times to try to fix the problem to no avail,..

What happens if you hit the "num lock"/delete key thingie on the numerical keyboard once? What does the keyboard palette in mac os x show? (I don't know where that is in Puma, can't remember...)
