Mouse Preferences For Multi Users

I like multi button mice and just purchased a Mighty Mouse. I set it for my preferences. There are 5 different user accounts on the family computer. I need to set 3 to a single button configuration and 2 to 2 different configurations. I have tried going to each account and setting the prefs separately and I get weird results, none the way I want. Can this be done?
MacOSX 10.4.2, Emac 1.25GHz, Superdrive.
