Lost Password And My Mac Os X (10.2) Wont Boot Up...

hello My name is frank,
I'm here to ask if any one has ever ran into a problem with there mac os 10.2.8 not booting up from the installation disk. I checked Cd for scratches and dirt marks but everything seems to be clean. The hardware and the CD rom were also checked and are working fine. My mac will not pick up the command of the "C" key at start up. Please help me. Thank you.

With the installation CD inserted, reboot the (unknown model) Mac with the '<option>' key pressed. Once a list of boot-able volumes are listed and selectable, click on the installation CD and then the '-->' button.
