Media Player 9.0

Media Player fails to open. After installing the latest version (9.0), I was successful in opening a file from my hard disk, but then the media player failed to open after attempting to view a file from the web browser. Now, fails to open for stored files (hard disk) or Internet viewing. Any ideas?
