Any sort of psuedo-harddrive/network activity "light" for laptops?

Anyone know of a program I can run in the toolbar (on top by the clock/airport/battery) that can display/blink when there is harddrive and network activity?

Yup,
DiskSpy can do that (FINALLY! I was going nuts!)

There are two varations of DiskSpy, one only does HDD activity for free, another does both HDD and Network activity and I belive it's 10 bucks.
