10.3.9 Font Book Empty/unresponsive

I am experiencing the same problem with Font book as described in the question "Mac 10.3 Font Book" at http://www.macosx.com/content/faq.php/q11684/Mac-103-Font-Book.html.

Basically when I open Font Book it is empty and the little thinking wheel spins for hours if I let it. I have tried deleting preferences, even deleting all the extra fonts from my system, nothing has worked. Unfortunately upgrading to 10.4 is not an option for me right now, so I'm hoping that we can come up with a different solution.

I have 3 identical Powermac G5s here at work and this is the only one experiencing the problem, both others are using Font Book with the same programs and fonts and no issues...

Do you have fonts in the Library/Fonts folder? Make sure fonts are in that folder as the system needs them to function.

Have you repaired permissisons lately?
