Lost email after reinstalling OS 10.2 on Imac G4

Hi, I'm a first timer so be gentle please. I've just reinstalled 10.2 using the system archive method. All went well but i need to know where my old emails (Outlook Express) are in the archive sysem folder and what it is called.Also how do I export them from there to the new system. I do hope I'm talking sense here. Many thanks
