Cant reinstall osx on my Ibook

Hi, I recently bought a Ibook (early 2004 model) from a recording studio that went under (liquidation)
It has OSX 10.3.? installed and when I collected it I was given a set of original install disks that are 10.2.

Ive been trying to re install OSX but it wouldnt even show the install disk as bootable.

I checked the serial number of the Ibook and determined that the minimum version was 10.3.
So I managed to get a set through Ebay, but even though the install disk (4 disks in total) is recognised as bootable it freezes at the grey screen with apple logo and wont go any further.
I have tried everything, hold down c , start up manager, start up disk, repair disk verification, but it wont budge from that screen.

Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
If your iBook G4 is listed as an Early 2004 model, then you will need at least 10.3.3 for installation. 10.3 won't work at all (as you can see)
The commercial Panther installers are either 10.3 or 10.3.5, so 10.3.5 would work if you can request that. Of course, Tiger 10.4.x will be fine, also....

Could be the discs you got on ebay are for a different model Mac.

Damn what a waste of money!

I had a G3 Blue n White before this (Tower) and it took whatever OS I threw at it, now this thing is a bit 'picky' over which os it will take.

@bobw, the 10.3 disks I bought were just 'retail' version, do I have to get specific Ibook version? or as Deltamac has said any 10.3.3 or above will work?

Thanks again

You will find that your Blue & White is also picky, and cannot install or run on a system older than OS 8.5.1
You are right in regards to OS X, any version can run.
