How Do I Stop a Large Email From Sending??

I made the mistake of misreading a file size, and am now in the process of sending a 600mb email to my wife. Every time I try to stop it, by deleting, or trying to move it to junk or trash bins, the program unexpectedly quits, and when I start it again, it just starts sending it again. What can I do? This has been sending for 8 1/2 hours now, and is about 8% complete. My wife cannot afford to wait for it to download once it reaches her computer, and it is killing my computer speed in the mean time. Any help would be appreciated. Using Apple Mail, by the way.

Nick

Found the answer myself, which was to send another message, which put two in the que. I then deleted the really big pain in the butt one, and shut down the mail program. When I restarted mail, it sent the second email, and the first was gone forever...
