Advanced Search in Mail

Ok, so it seems that an advanced search in Mail is not possible. By advanced I mean a search for all emails that contain the term 'lottery winner' but not the ones that contain 'send $10,000'

So what is everyone using for this type of functionality? Is there a plug in for mail or an alternative to mail that anyone here would recommend.

You might be able to achieve this using a Smart Mailbox (Mailbox->New Smart Mailbox) in Mail - you can then specify a number of search requirements.
