iPhoto install problems - what have i done?

iPhoto's been causing me lots of brain damage lately, so I trashed it, with the intent of re-installing it.

But when I put my iLife 05 DVD in and choose to Customize the install, iPhoto is grayed-out. It's not an option for me to install.

What files might I be missing or how can I get it reinstalled???

I am not sure exactly where to look - but there is a .plist for iPhoto. THe install files look for that plist and seeing it, considers it installed.

You might not have had to trash iPhoto - just the plist.

Can anyone else help me with the directory path? ~/Library/Preferences?

I am on my windows machine in the office.

No, the Installer does not look for the 'plist'. It looks for the Receipt.

Try using Pacifist to extract iPhoto from the disc.

interestingly enough, pacifist wouldn't work on the Apple install pkgs. But When I went to the Receipts folder, I just moved the iPhoto.pkg and I could install it from the DVD (finally).

Thanks for getting me on the right path. things are well again...
