Okay, I no longer own a macintosh, but my girlfriend does and she has a problem. I think she runs the older version of OS X, and every 10 or so minutes a screen comes up asking "Do you want to disconnect?" or something along those lines. She's got either DSL or Cable, and I just would like to know how to get rid of that.

In the "Internet Connect" application, in the options for her PPPoE account (or dial-up account), look for an option like "Prompt every ___ minutes to remain connected." That option may also be in the "Network" pane of the System Preferences, in her modem's configuration.
