| Selective Spotlight? A brief question: why is Spotlight so effective in locating MS Office items, jpegs, etc., but ignores documents created by other word processors other than Word? I use Mariner Write and MacJournal. Is there anything that can be done to modify Spotlight? If no one minds my saying so, this seems rather selective on Apple's part and discourages third party software that doesn't belong to the Microsoft monopoly. |

| Basically, it's up to developers to write Spotlight add-ons to support their file types. Apple handled the most common ones themselves, but it's not their job to support every file format in existence. I've yet to find an application that actually extends Spotlight like this, though. Pity. Especially since Apple has lot and lots of documentation for developers on how to do this. |
