Ok, so I'm transferring data from an iMac running OS 9.2 to a Mac mini running OS X 10.4 using a 512MB USB 2.0 flash drive. When I connect the drive to the iMac, an icon for the drive appears on the desktop. I do get messages about file sharing not being able to be enabled for the drive, but I don't care about file sharing on that drive.

I can drag Quicken 98 files to the drive and they get copied ok. I can (usually) eject the flash drive and connect it to the Mac mini and an icon for the drive appears on the Mac mini. I drag the Quicken files to a folder on the Mac mini and double click the icon and I get a message indicating no app could be found to open the file. I'm able to choose an app but when I navigate to the Quicken folder, I'm not able to select Quicken as an app.

I had the two Macs connected via the LAN but now the Mac mini won't let the iMac connect (which is another problem I'll ask about in another thread).

I'm wondering if there is some file attribute or something being lost when I copy the Quicken files to the USB flash drive on the iMac. Would this prevent Quicken 2005 from opening the files after they've been copied from the USB flash drive?

Is there anything special I should do to initialize the flash drive to prevent this from happening?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Peace...
