| I am running 10.4 and I do a lot of video (Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio). My computer has been hanging up during reboot and after the apple screen I get a complete blue screen. I can still see my cursor from my mouse, and it moves, but nothing else is happening. I tried to force quit and zap the PRAM (if that even helps), but to no avail. Any troubleshooting suggestions from all you Mac wizards out there? I'm at work so PLEASE hurry! Thanks! ![]() |

| What Mac are you using specifically? Are you sure it didn't need a firmware upgrade? Are you up to version 10.4.5? Is anything else updated to the latest version like QuickTime?

| Have you tried booting into safe mode, and undoing what you did last? Is your hard drive nearly full? I read that you should have about 15 percent freespace to avoid problems.

| I am updated to the most recent version of everything. I don't know about a firmware 'upgrade', but I did reset the firmware via 'option+command+O+F'. I don't know what else to do. I also tried running a hardware test and then repairing the disk, but it says that one of my volumes could not be repaired. I tried this three times. Am I screwed? |

| To get new firmware, search http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/ for "Firmware myMac", myMac being the type of computer you have.

| Or better yet, check out the chart on the link below and look for your Mac in the listing. If you need the firmware, it will say it. If not, then you don't need it. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117 BTW, you never mentioned what model Macintosh you actually have. If you let us know, we can help you further. ![]()
