dvd stutter on 14" ibook g3

Hi,

We are having issues with playing dvd's on 14" ibook g3s. we are using 10.3.9 and whenever a dvd is inserted it jitters and stutters. we have tried restarting the ibook and if you put a dvd in it works, but if you insert a new dvd the issue starts again. Any suggestions?
