Intel + web design and video software?

Hey guys,

I am thinking of buying a new iMac intel core duo thingy.... I use Macromedia Studio MX 2004, Maya 6.5, Apple Shake 4, and Apple Motion 2 - will these work on this machine?

Any quick response would be appreciated...Thanks in advance...

Ian

i would say no. if you do need a new machine, go PowerPC. Although maya works beautifully, Studio MX will run slowly, and Motion will not run until you buy cross-grade disks when they come out in the coming weeks.

and Shake won't run at all. they're making Shake 5 universal but when that is scheduled for release, i don't know.

basically, if this is your livelyhood, an intel mac may not run properly for you for maybe a year at least. however, if you buy a new G5, it will still be fast in 3 years time, which will be around the upgrade cycle for your software as well.
