Hotmail on Mac for a new Mac user

I have set up my hotmail account to work using the httpmail plugin on my Mac but I am having a few problems. I can get new messages on the Mac mail program but they are still listed as new messages on hotmail.com when I check my mail there. Also, if I move messages to folders on hotmail.com the do not move on Mac mail. Is this just the way it works on a Mac or do I have a setting wrong?

thats just the way the plugin works. as of right now, there is no way for any app, other than maybe one by microsoft, to effect your hotmail account. all the plugin does is copies what is in your account to your computer. which is all you really need, and that works for me.

btw, i do use this plugin on my mac, and have since 10.2.

I disagree; go to the "Advanced" tab of your Hotmail account in Mail, and make sure the second-from-bottom drop down menu is set to either "Mark downloaded messages as read" or "Delete downloaded messages".
