| deleting classic w/cleaner 5 I have a two piece question: first I'd like to consider clearing up space on an emac HD by deleting the System 9(classic) which I'm not using for much. Will this impact the cleaner 5 application (a classic application) which with the free 5.1.1 patch runs in OSX? I'd like to continue using it in OSX of course. part two, if I am trying to install this cleaner 5 disc on OSX tiger and having problems because the install discs don't appear to give me the option to load classic(to then upgrade to 5.1.1 for OSX) can i simply copy the application contents, and a couple files that appear in library preferences folders etc. to this imac g5's similar destination, and expect it to boot? if it's a gamble, is it something that may cause problems? Thanks. ps. i know there is a procedure for deleting classic which i've downloaded from this site: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050430120117382 |

| There is no reason to delete Classic. It occupies only about 300 MB of HD space. This is a drop in the bucket. If you need to recover this capacity, then you need a new hard drive. I notice that you said that you're not using it for much. This tells me that you use Classic on occasion, if only rarely. If those rare occasions are essential, then removing Classic is more trouble than it is worth. |
