Hotmail stopped working with MacfreePops!?!

Hi all,

I am using MacfreePOPS v1.6, with freepops v. 0.98, alongside Mail.app on Mac OS 10.4.6(PPC). Previously, my Mail.app had allowed me to check my Hotmail account (please see my previous question; thanks! Vinko).
Recently, I found that though my Yahoo! and other accounts can still be read using the plugin, the Hotmail account refuses to log on. Mail keeps on asking for my password and even then does not connect or transfer e-mails. I even deleted and recreated my account (for Hotmail), but it didn't help. Any further help on the topic is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

SwitcherG

Captain Code will become famous soon enough
Hotmail recently changed their login procedure to use the windows live servers which is probably having some strange affect on that plugin.

I have gooood news! For me too it had stopped working and I was really frustrated... But I installed the update for FreePOPs 0.0.99 and it worked again! To update, click the "Updates available" button under the big "Start/Stop freepopsd server" button.

I recently installed Macfreepops and I follow every instruction but it keeps saying "The POP server "127.0.0.1" rejected the password for user "[myemailaddresshere]@hotmail.com" Please re-enter your password, or cancel.

I do so and it comes up again a few seconds later. Any ideas?

Hotmail offers free POP service as of recently. No need to use some 3rd-party plug-in to access your hotmail account from a POP client.

As for your problem, I believe you have your software configured incorrectly. 127.0.0.1 is your machine -- it seems you have the software configured to contact your machine for hotmail when it should be contacting Microsoft's Live servers for hotmail. At any rate, this is a moot point -- if you want POP access for hotmail, uninstall the software you installed and use Microsoft's Live POP servers.
