I have pointed my iTunes library at a mounted smb share (it's on a win2k box elsewhere in the house). This works great, until I launch iTunes when that share is not mounted. This causes iTunes to forcibly change my preferred iTunes Libary location to its default somewhere in my user account's Music folder on my localhost.
The music can't be played until it's mounted, which is fine, but then it still has that annoying shift in setting which also makes any future imported music to hit my localhost instead of joining all my other files on my server.
Is there any way to prevent this? Perhaps to either make sure that share is mounted prior to running iTunes or else preventing iTunes from changing the setting on me? Any tips on what it would take to make an applescript i'd replace itunes with on my dock that would check the share's mount status -- if true launch iTunes, if false pop alert to remount smb share?
