| legal implications of pre installing OS X? Hey Thinking of setting up an upgrade business for macbooks. Basically larger HD's, additional memory etc. What are the implications of supplying the hard drives pre installed with the OS? Obviously these are supplied to customers whom already own a copy and they would agree to a disclaimer that they do. Many thanks Dale |

| If those customers send in their MacBooks with the original installation disks, it's no problem, then you're simply a service provider.

| What if its a replacement HD. So they dont send in anything. I use a generic CD, they supply the key/code and i install onto a new HD, they agree that they already own a legitimate copy. |

| There is no commercial installer yet for the Intel Macs. The only system installs available are those that ship with the Mac Intels. So you would be using a pirated copy, wouldn't you? There are no codes involved with installing OS X, so guessing you would be installing copies of WindowsXP ? And you would be supplying copies of the Windows, along with good, clear activations for each?

| There is no Key Code. As long as the user owns the OS, not a problem. Apple's police won't show up at your door ![]()

Thats good to know. Whats the quickest way to install OSX onto a brand new SATA 2.5 inch notebook hard drive? Is it a matter of putting the HD in a macbook and using the cd. OR can I use a cable to flash it to the drive? Its just that many drives would be done, so anything time saving would be great. Would be great if someone could point me to a guide, im sure there is one on here? |

| If they are identical drives then you could just copy the disk images. That would be the fastest as it is only bound but the speed of the disk. You could even use Disk Utility.app for that.

| Can I create an image of a fresh install of mac osx onto a windows pc, then copy that over to a brand new formatted HD? |
