Hi,
I'm having trouble connecting with Dreamweaver connection to a mySQL database. Here are some details:
- Dreamweaver 8.0.1
- mySQL and php on the same remote server
- mac os x 10.3.9
I have no trouble with dreamweaver connecting to the server via FTP (either to the remote server or the testing server), but it times out when trying to access the databases. I think this problem is caused by my computer being behind a (university) web proxy server. The proxy server does not interfere with FTP traffic so this is not being upset. Dreamweaver behaves perfectly (can access databases) when I log in from home using an ISP that does not use aproxy server or when I log in from a university PC. The PC is behind the web proxy server, but it has been set up using a proxy script that seems to cure any problem.
When I check the access logs to the testing server I find that sucessful connections (either from my Mac from home or from the PC at work) use an agent called MMHttp to access a file called /_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php.
Can you help me with the setting up of my Macs proxy server settings? I don't know if these needs to be done within dreamweaver or in the system preferences. I have tried various alternatives, but none have worked. Alternatively, can you tell me what question I should ask the IT people who manage the proxy server? They are not Mac friendly, hence the PC working and my Mac not.
Many thanks,
Conrad
